Make Money With Twitter Using Sponsored Tweets
Welcome back, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I love twitter and if you’re reading this I’m sure you do as well. It’s a fun place to make friends and build relationships while simultaneously promoting your personal brand and/or your business. When you approach twitter with a plan, twitter becomes a marketing weapon and that means serious business!
In the world of internet marketing, multiple income streams are one of the goals and as we know some income streams are larger than others. This does not mean that smaller residual streams should be taken for granted.
I follow pro-blogger John Chow who introduced me to the opportunity I am going to share with you in this article. John has managed to earn on average about a $3,000 residual monthly income just from this one income stream. That’s roughly $100 a tweet almost every day of the month!
Many of us have become negatively conditioned to ignore “Make Money With Twitter” posts and tweets because most of these plugs come from amateur marketers just spamming their links. I can assure you my friends, this opportunity is for real and is lots of fun too!
Sponsored Tweets is a platform brought to you by IZEA that brings advertisers and tweeters together in a mutually beneficial relationship. Advertisers can target highly selected niche marketers and YOU can monetize your twitter account by providing sponsored links to products and services that followers in your niche will appreciate. With that being said, it’s also a great way to get paid to start a targeted conversation with your followers.
This is not a get rich quick scheme but a real and legitimate way to earn a residual income while at the same time providing value to your peeps. I’m earning nearly $37 per tweet and offers are coming in ever week or two since I started. Once you’ve earned at least $50, you can easily transfer the funds right over to your PayPal account.

Above is a screen shot of my info. and settings in my Sponsored Tweets back office. By choosing an appropriate my category and complimentary keywords, you can target the niche that is most suitable for your following.
There are some extra ways to monetize your affiliation with Sponsored Tweets above and beyond sending paid tweets to your following. They also have a referral program whereby you will earn 10% of Sponsored Tweets portion of revenue for each successful transaction that a referred Tweeter makes. In addition, you can earn 5% of the revenue Sponsored Tweets makes by referring advertisers to the service as well.
They provide both links and badges to help you spread the word about the service. You can even attract advertisers to you specifically by displaying a “Sponsor Me” badge on your blog or website.
Overall, this service is a great way to cover the fees for my self-hosted WordPress blog using HostGator, it pays for my monthly AWeber auto-responder service account fees and can cover the expenses for a cool plug-in, a piece of marketing software such as TubeBlasterPro or the monthly fees for the highly recommended social bookmarking service Traffic-Bug.
One of the cool things about the service is that you can pick and choose your sponsors. If you get an offer that simply doesn’t align with your twitter objectives, you’re under no obligation to work with the sponsor. You even have the option of tweeting for non-profits and charities and any money earned would be donated to those respective organizations.
Writing your own tweets is a flexible alternative you have to make sure the message is crafted to your liking as opposed to simply using the content provided by the sponsor. If you choose this option, the sponsor will review and approve the content to make sure it aligns with their objectives as well.
You also have the flexibility to set your own asking price. While Sponsored Tweets will recommend a price based on factors such as number of followers, account age, how often you tweet and other variables, you can start high and come down if the offers aren’t rolling in as much as you would like.
There are a numbers of free services out there such as www.klout.com, www.twitter.grader.com, www.twittercounter.com and www.twitterholic.com that can provide you with a wealth of statistical data about your account so you can see how you measure up.
Sponsored Tweets also allows you to monitor the competition in their “Sponsor These Tweets” section so you can see how much other tweeters are asking including some of their stats such as cost per click and kscore (determined by www.klout.com).
Your kscore is a number which represents one’s measure of influence on Twitter. All of the measure of influence variables are available for your review at www.klout.com/twitter/influence/ The desire to improve your kscore encourages you to be more actively engaged with your followers.
You can even apply for web celebrity status if you are not already a known personality to increase your credibility and exposure. Your level of visibility and marketability are factors used to determine if celebrity status is an appropriate title for you and your account.
There are already a number of well known TV, music, film and radio personalities available for sponsorship using the service. The likes of @kimkardashian, @BobVilacom and @KimberlyCole1 just to name a few.

Sponsored Tweets has a 100% disclosure policy. Ethical sponsored conversations are insured through their disclosure engine which requires a disclosure phrase in all tweets. “My Sponsor..” or “Brought To You By..” are typical disclosure statement examples.
Is it possible to lose followers over an occasional sponsored tweet? As long as you are sending out targeted tweets to your niche, the answer is emphatically, no! In fact, since you have the ability to craft the tweets you send out, you can make them flow so smoothly that most people will not notice even with the disclosure statement.
In some cases, because the tweets are highly targeted, they may even get retweeted which is ideal for both you and your sponsor. In conclusion, this is a great little income stream that’s both fun and easy yet still adds value for your followers. I give it 5 stars for both fun and ease of use!

I was thinking about trying sponsored tweets earlier this year, but I never got around to it. Hopefully I will get the chance to purchase a sponsored tweet from John Chow by the end of the year

Do you have anything on You Tube explaining this? I seem to have trouble figuring out where the codes to the badges end up.
